Conceived by artist and WCPUN Cultural Adviser, Barbara Holub (transparadiso, Vienna/ Austria) in collaboration with Marie-Christin Rissinger, Elisabeth Stephan, Julian Verocai, The 1st World Congress of the Missing Things Congress addresses the complex issue of population loss and revitalization along Downtown Baltimore’s Howard Street corridor. As with many areas experiencing revitalization, the challenge is how to use this opportunity to create an inclusive process that recognizes, supports and involves the people, places and existing initiatives already present in the neighborhood and the city. Sited at Lexington Market, the project responds directly to a place of significant cultural and historic importance and often in contemporary conversation, of contention.
