The 16th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Observance for Religious and Racial Harmony begins Sunday, 19 January 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Islamic Cultural Center (1711 Third Avenue @ 97th Street), continues to the Sutton Place Synagogue (225 East 51st Street) at 3:00 pm, followed by a Silent Prayer March to Saint Bartholomew’s Church (Park Avenue and 51st Street) with choral performances and remarks at 4:00 pm.
16TH ANNUAL INTERFAITH OBSERVANCE
The latest edition of CENTERPOINT NOW, focused on exploring multi-dimensional facets of “sustainability,” was presented on Saturday, 11 January, 2014, at Japan Society . The interactive presentation featured remarks by celebrated artist, Mariko Mori; as well as by Centerpoint Now contributors, Jeffery Huffines, CIVICUS Representative and Chair, 65th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference; Felix Dodds, Fellow, University of North Carolina and Tellus Institute; Nina Colosi, Founder, Streaming Museum; Renée Niño de Rivera, Social Entrepreneur; andOliya Clarkson, Award-winning Figure Skater and Student, The New School; and was moderated by Centerpoint Now Editor-in-Chief Shamina de Gonzaga.
The event also marked a last opportunity to view Ms. Mori’s exhibit “Rebirth: Recent Work by Mariko Mori” at Japan Society before the exhibit’s January 12, 2014 closing. This event was co-hosted by Japan Society and World Council of Peoples for the UN.

WCPUN participated in the international panel of judges for the 2014 Worldwide UNESCO Clubs Youth Multimedia Competition. Youth between the ages of 15-24 were invited to answer the question “If you could do one thing in your lifetime to make the world a better place what would it be, why, and how?” through a video, art work, or essay to share their vision of being a positive agent of change.
WCPUN was among the Contributors to the 2013 United Nations Correspondents Association Awards Ceremony honoring excellence in coverage of international issues and featuring remarks by celebrated UN Messengers for Peace, Stevie Wonder and Michael Douglas.
Learning Power of Thought
In collaboration with WCPUN and the Power of Thought Study Center, mentor, musician and World Guinness Book of Records achiever, Mr. Kong Tai, provided free lectures and seminars for the New York-based Chinese community on Learning the Power of Thought at Queens Community College and other venues in the New York Metropolitan area.

WCPUN collaborated with the Expressions of Humankind Foundation in Sweden to bring to fruition an exhibition in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza showcasing images from the photographic documentation A Day in the World. The exhibition opening featured remarks by UN Deputy Secretary General, Jan Eliasson, and A Day in the World founder, Jeppe Wikström. Aday.org
